As you may know, we live in the Northeast and last week we were blanketed with 18″+ of powdery white snow (and record-breaking cold, awesome). We tend to dream in blue and white (really, who doesn’t?!?!?), but looking outside these days all we see is the forest-y green of arborvitae and spruce trees and endless swaths of white snow. It’s really got us feeling inspired!
The internet went crazy for this Wendy Labrum Lake Forest Showhouse and so did we! Those walls! The floral chairs! Darker greens, especially, lend a moodiness and richness to a room and we love how the glossy, lacquered walls add a modern flair.
Brighter greens can enliven a room and add a happy freshness to the scene. (And, to be honest, we could use some Spring-like vibes right now!) This Summer Thornton porch (as seen in House Beautiful) just makes us smile. Warm breezes and sunshine…we need a vacation STAT.
Perhaps what we love most about green & white is how nicely it plays with blue! For real, we DIED when we saw the Henry & Co. Design creation for the Brooklyn Heights Showhouse this past Fall. That blue trelliage! The beloved Coleen & Company Lantern & Sconces! THE WALLPAPER, Y’ALL!
This playful, but, sophisticated, Connecticut farmhouse is the work of the incredible Jenny Wolf published in House Beautiful. The only pattern is the stunning Cowtan & Tout (Colefax’s Longbourn) floral dining chairs and the striped dhurrie, but the different wood finishes and simple details make the room feel warm and inviting.
Add some green to your life, whether it be dark and rich or bright and fresh! If it feels like too much of a commitment, consider smaller, verdant accent pieces. Green loves blues of all shades, rattan, natural woods and crisp whites.
